ROUTE 29 (LEE HIGHWAY) / GAINESVILLE

I-66 East from Route 29 (Lee Highway) Gainesville to Route 234 (Prince William Parkway)

Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Three lanes will be closed for crews to relocate barrier and to implement a traffic shift.

 

ROUTE 234 BUSINESS (SUDLEY ROAD) / MANASSAS

I-66 West from Cub Run to Bull Run Drive

Monday, November 30, and Tuesday, December 1: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Three lanes will be closed for crews to implement a traffic shift and reopen fourth travel lane.

 

I-66 West from Cub Run to Route 234 Business

Ongoing

Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for extended paving operations. The HOV lane will be closed indefinitely. Weekdays between 5 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. daily, three travel lanes will be open to traffic. Either two lanes will be closed between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, leaving two travel lanes open, or three lanes will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, leaving one travel lane open.

 

I-66 West from east of Route 29 Centreville to Cub Run

The HOV lane will be closed for paving operations.

 

ROUTE 29 (LEE HIGHWAY) / CENTREVILLE

Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 Centreville

Monday night, November 30, through Thursday night, December 3: midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 29. 

 

Route 29 Centreville North and South at I-66

Starting 9 p.m. Friday, December 4, continuously through 5 a.m. Monday, December 7

Route 29 will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction under I-66 to allow for demolition of the old I-66 bridges over Route 28. Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday night, December 4, two-way traffic will run in the northbound lanes of Route 29.  Starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday night, December 5, two-way traffic will run in the southbound lanes of Route 29. Drivers using ramps to and from I-66 will not be allowed to make left turns during this time. During overnight hours each night a flagger will alternate a single lane of traffic in both directions.

Braddock Road between Newton Patent Drive and Route 28

Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4: 11 a.m. to noon

Temporary 15-minute stoppages of traffic for blasting operations.

 

 

I-66 West from Cub Run to Route 234 Business

Ongoing

Monday, November 30, through Thursday, December 3: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Two lanes will be closed for overhead bridge work at Poplar Tree Road.

 

I-66 East and West between Route 29 Centreville and Stringfellow Road

Route 28 North and South between Route 29 and Braddock Road

Braddock Road between Newton Patent Drive and Route 28

Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4: 11 a.m. to noon

Temporary 15-minute stoppages of traffic for blasting operations.

 

I-66 East from Route 28 to Waples Mill Road

Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4: 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

One lane will be closed for lane striping at 7 p.m. nightly. Between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, three lanes will be closed, leaving one travel lane open.

 

Route 28 North at I-66

Ongoing

The right lane of Route 28 North at I-66 will remain closed to provide an extended merge lane for the ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North.

 

ROUTE 286 (FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY) / FAIR LAKES

Stringfellow Road North and South at I-66

Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The right lane will be closed bridge work.

 

I-66 East from Route 28 to Waples Mill Road

Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4: 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

One lane will be closed for lane striping at 7 p.m. nightly. Between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, three lanes will be closed, leaving one travel lane open.

 

I-66 West from Route 50 to Route 286

The HOV lane will be closed for roadway widening work.

 

I-66 East from Route 286 to Waples Mill Road

The HOV lane will be closed for pavement reconstruction.

 

ROUTE 50 / FAIRFAX

I-66 East from Route 28 to Waples Mill Road

Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4: 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

One lane will be closed for lane striping at 7 p.m. nightly. Between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, three lanes will be closed, leaving one travel lane open.

 

Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East

Wednesday night, December 2, and Thursday night, December 3: midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be directed to stay to the left and continue farther east to Waples Mill Road. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane only to make a U-turn onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

I-66 East and West between Route 123 and Route 50

Friday, December 4: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

I-66 East and West will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

I-66 West from Route 50 to Route 286

I-66 East and West will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

Three lanes will be closed for lane striping and barrier installation.

 

I-66 East from Cedar Lane to Gallows Road

Monday, November 30, through Thursday, December 3: 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-66 East will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Gallows Road for overhead bridge work at Gallows Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

Ramp from 495 Express Lanes North to I-66 West

Monday, November 30, through Thursday, December 3: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 East, take the exit for Route 7, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

I-66 West between I-495 and Gallows Road

Wednesday, December 2, and Thursday, December 3: 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Gallows Road for overhead bridge work at Gallows Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

Gallows Road North and South between Belleforest Drive and Cottage Street

Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

One lane will be closed for utility work.

 

I-495 South from Route 7 to I-66

Wednesday, December 2, through Friday, December 4: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Two lanes will be closed for barrier installation.
