ROUTE 29 (LEE HIGHWAY) / GAINESVILLE

I-66 East from Route 29 (Lee Highway) Gainesville to Groveton Road

Friday, December 11, and Saturday, December 12: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Three lanes will be closed for crews to relocate barrier and to implement a traffic shift.

 

ROUTE 234 BUSINESS (SUDLEY ROAD) / MANASSAS

I-66 West from Cub Run to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road)

Sunday, December 6, through Saturday, December 12: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Sunday, December 6, through Saturday, December 12: 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. (back up for inclement overnight weather)

Multi-lane closures will be implemented for paving operations. Two travel lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. nightly, leaving two travel lanes open; and three travel lanes will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, leaving one travel lane open. Should inclement weather prohibit overnight work, westbound I-66 will be reduced to two travel lanes during daytime hours December 6-12 from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I-66 East and West between Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville and Stringfellow Road

Sunday, December 6, through Friday, December 11: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Three lanes closed for utility work

 

I-66 West from Route 29 Centreville to Cub Run

Sunday, December 6, through Saturday, December 12: 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Sunday, December 6, through Saturday, December 12: 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. (back up for inclement overnight weather)

Westbound I-66 will be reduced to one travel lane for paving operations and for crews to shift barrier and implement traffic shifts during overnight hours December 6-12 from 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly.  Should inclement weather prohibit overnight work, westbound I-66 will be reduced to two travel lanes during daytime hours December 6-12 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Ramp from Route 29 North and South to I-66 West

Tuesday night, December 8, through Saturday night, December 12: midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed.  Traffic will be detoured to take exit for I-66 East, take the exit for Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, and then stay to the right for I-66 West.

 

Route 29 Centreville North and South at I-66

Starting 9 p.m. Friday, December 11, continuously through 5 a.m. Monday, December 14

Route 29 will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction under I-66 to allow for demolition of the old I-66 bridges over Route 29. Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday night, December 11, two-way traffic will run in the northbound lanes of Route 29. Starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday night, December 12, two-way traffic will run in the southbound lanes of Route 29. Drivers using ramps to and from I-66 will not be allowed to make left turns during this time. A flagger will alternate a single lane of traffic in both directions during overnight hours.

 

I-66 West from Cub Run to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road)

Route 28 North and South between E.C. Lawrence Park and Westfields Boulevard

Monday, December 7, through Friday, December 11: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Two lanes will be closed for overhead bridge work.

 

Ramp from Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road Overpass

Monday night, December 7, through Friday night, December 11: midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed.  Traffic will be detour to continue north on Route 28. To reach Braddock Road, take the exit to Westfield Blvd West and continue on Westfields Blvd. To reach Walney Road, take the exit to Westfields Blvd East and then turn right onto Walney Road.

The right lane of Route 28 North at I-66 will remain closed to provide an extended merge lane for the ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North.

 

ROUTE 286 (FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY) / FAIR LAKES

I-66 East from Stringfellow Road to Route 286

Saturday, December 5: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Eastbound I-66 will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway for crews to implement a traffic shift.  Between 11 p.m. Saturday night, December 5 and 7 a.m. Sunday morning, December 6, all traffic will be diverted to the eastbound collector-distributor lane.   All lanes will reopen by 9 a.m.

 

Ramp from Stringfellow Road to I-66 East

Saturday, December 5: 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The ramp will be closed for crews to implement a traffic shift on I-66 East.

 

I-66 East from West Ox Road to Monument Drive

Sunday, December 6, through Tuesday, December 8: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Two lanes closed for crews to shift barrier.

 

Ramp from Route 286 South to I-66 East

Sunday night, December 6, through Tuesday night, December 8: midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to continue south on Route 286, take exit for the Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville, turn left at the traffic signal to Route 29 North, and then turn left at the traffic signal to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, and then follow signs for I-66 East.

Monday, December 7, through Friday, December 11: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The right lane will be closed bridge work.

 

I-66 West from Route 50 to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway)

ROUTE 50 / FAIRFAX

I-66 East from West Ox Road to Monument Drive

Sunday, December 6, through Tuesday, December 8: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Two lanes closed for crews to shift barrier.

 

Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East

Monday night, December 7, through Friday night, December 11: Midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be directed to stay to the left and continue farther east to Waples Mill Road. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane only to make a U-turn onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50

Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 10: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Friday, December 11: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

I-66 East and West will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

I-66 West from Route 50 to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway)

ROUTE 123 (CHAIN BRIDGE ROAD) / OAKTON – CITY OF FAIRFAX

I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50

Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 10: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Friday, December 11: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

I-66 East and West will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road for overhead bridge construction. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

Ramp from Route 123 South to I-66 East

Thursday, December 10: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The ramp will be closed.  Traffic will be Traffic will be directed to continue south for approximately 500 feet, stay to the left and enter the median where a flagger will direct traffic to make a U-turn onto Route 123 North, and then take the exit to I-66 East.
