ROUTE 29 (LEE HIGHWAY) / GAINESVILLE

I-66 East from Route 29 (Lee Highway) Gainesville to Groveton Road

Friday, December 11, and Saturday, December 12: 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Eastbound I-66 will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Route 29 (Lee Highway) for crews to implement a traffic shift. Between 10 p.m. Friday night, December 11 and 7 a.m. Saturday morning, December 12, all traffic will be diverted to the eastbound collector-distributor lane. All lanes will reopen by 9 a.m.

 

ROUTE 234 BUSINESS (SUDLEY ROAD) / MANASSAS

I-66 East from Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) to Manassas Rest Area

Tuesday, December 15, through Friday, December 18: 11 a.m. to noon

Temporary 15-minute stoppages of traffic for blasting operations.

 

I-66 West from Cub Run to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road)

Sunday, December 13, through Saturday, December 19: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Sunday, December 13, through Saturday, December 19: 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. (back up in the event of inclement overnight weather)

Multi-lane closures will be implemented for paving operations. Two travel lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. nightly, leaving two travel lanes open. Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, an additional lane will be closed, leaving one travel lane open. If weather conditions prohibit overnight work, westbound I-66 will be reduced to two travel lanes during daytime hours December 13-19 from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

ROUTE 29 (LEE HIGHWAY) / CENTREVILLE

I-66 West between Route 28 and Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville

Monday, December 14: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Three lanes will be closed for overhead gantry removal. Drivers should expect slowdowns and periodic 20 minutes stoppages between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

Route 29 Centreville North and South at I-66

Starting 9 p.m. Friday, December 18, continuously through 5 a.m. Monday, December 21

Route 29 will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction under I-66 to allow for demolition of the old I-66 bridges over Route 29. Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday night, December 18, two-way traffic will run in the northbound lanes of Route 29. Starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday night, December 19, two-way traffic will run in the southbound lanes of Route 29. Drivers using ramps to and from I-66 will not be allowed to make left turns during this time. A flagger will alternate a single lane of traffic in both directions during overnight hours.

 

I-66 West from Cub Run to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road)

Sunday, December 13, through Saturday, December 19: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Sunday, December 13, through Saturday, December 19: 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. (back up in the event of inclement overnight weather)

Three lanes will be closed for overhead gantry removal. Drivers should expect slowdowns and periodic 20 minutes stoppages between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

Route 28 North and South between I-66 and Westfields Boulevard

Monday, December 14, through Friday, December 18: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Two lanes will be closed for overhead bridge work.

 

Ramp from Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road Overpass

Monday night, December 14, through Friday night, December 18: Midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to Westfields Boulevard. To reach Braddock Road, travel west. To reach Walney Road, travel east.

 

I-66 East and West between Route 29 Centreville and Stringfellow Road

Route 28 North and South between Route 29 and Braddock Road

Braddock Road between Newton Patent Drive and Route 28

The right lane of Route 28 North at I-66 will remain closed to provide an extended merge lane for the ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North.

 

ROUTE 286 (FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY) / FAIR LAKES

Stringfellow Road North and South at I-66

Monday, December 14, through Friday, December 18: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The right lane will be closed bridge work.

 

I-66 West from Route 50 to Route 286

The HOV lane will be closed for roadway widening work.

 

I-66 East from Route 286 to Waples Mill Road

The HOV lane will be closed for pavement reconstruction.

 

ROUTE 50 / FAIRFAX

I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50

Monday, December 14, and Tuesday, December 15: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-66 East and West will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East

Monday night, December 14, through Friday night, December 18: Midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

 

I-66 West from Route 50 to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway)

The HOV lane will be closed for roadway widening work.

ROUTE 123 (CHAIN BRIDGE ROAD) / OAKTON – CITY OF FAIRFAX

I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50

Monday, December 14, and Tuesday, December 15: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-66 East and West will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

Ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North

Sunday, December 13: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The ramp will be closed.  Traffic will be directed to take the exit from I-66 West to Route 123 South and at the traffic signal turn right onto Route 123 North.

 

Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North from I-66 to White Granite Drive

Sunday, December 13: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday, December 18: 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

One lane will be closed for paving and lane striping. 

 

Right-turn lane from Route 123 South to Rose Forest Drive

I-66 East from Blake Lane to Nutley Street

ROUTE 243 (NUTLEY STREET) / VIENNA

I-66 East from Blake Lane to Vaden Drive

Wednesday, December 16, through Friday, December 18: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Three lanes will be closed for overhead bridge work.  Drivers should expect slowdowns and periodic short stoppages between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

I-66 East and West between Vaden Drive and Cedar Lane

Monday, December 14, through Wednesday, December 16: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Friday, December 18, and Saturday, December 19: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Two lanes will be closed for crews to shift barrier and implement a traffic shift.

 

Cedar Lane between Hilltop Drive and Cottage Street

Cedar Lane over I-66 will be closed for construction of the new bridge.

 

I-66 West from Nutley Street to Vaden Drive

I-495 (CAPITAL BELTWAY) / DUNN LORING

Gallows Road North and South between Bellforest Drive and Cottage Street

Monday, December 14, through Friday, December 18: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

One lane will be closed for utility work.

 

I-495 South from Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) to I-66

Monday, December 14: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Three lanes will be closed for overhead bridge work. Drivers should expect periodic 20-minute stoppages between midnight and 4 a.m.

 

495 Express Lanes South at I-66

Monday, December 14: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The I-495 Express Lanes South will be closed at I-66.  Traffic will be detoured to I-66 West, to Nutley Street North, continue to the intersection with Virginia Center Boulevard, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most turn lane at the traffic signal on to Nutley Street South, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal to I-66 East, back I-495 South

Monday, December 14: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The ramps will be closed.  Traffic will be directed to take the I-495 South general purpose lanes.

 

I-66 East and West from Cedar Lane to I-495

Monday, December 14, through Thursday, December 17: 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-66 East and West will be reduced to one travel lane for overhead bridge work at Gallows Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. nightly.
