ROUTE 29 (LEE HIGHWAY) / GAINESVILLE

I-66 West from Bull Run Drive to Route 29 Gainesville

Ongoing

Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for extended paving operations. The HOV lane will be closed indefinitely. Between noon and 8 p.m. daily, three travel lanes will be open to traffic. Between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly, three lanes will be closed, leaving one travel lane open. Between 6 a.m. and noon daily, two lanes will be closed, leaving two travel lanes open.

University Boulevard between Route 29 and Rail Line Court

Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for bridge works.  The single right lane will be closed starting around 9 p.m. Friday night, August 14, through 5 a.m. Monday morning, August 17.  Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly (4 a.m. Monday morning), two lanes will be closed.

 

I-66 West from Compton Road to Bull Run

Starting 10 p.m. Friday, August 21, through Monday, August 24 at 5 a.m.

Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for bridge works.  The single right lane will be closed starting around 10 p.m. Friday night, August 21, through 5 a.m. Monday morning, August 24.  Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly (4 a.m. Monday morning), two lanes will be closed.

I-66 East and West between Route 29 Centreville and Stringfellow Road

Two right lanes will be closed for pavement operations at the I-66/Route 29 Centreville Interchange.

Sunday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 19: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The ramp will be closed for paving and utility work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 29.

Sunday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 19: Midnight to 4 a.m.

The ramp will be closed for paving. Traffic will be directed exit at Route 28 South, then take exit to Route 29 South.

Sunday, August 16: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The ramp will be closed for utility work. Traffic will continue on Route 29 South, make a u-turn at Stone Road, then exit to I-66 East

Friday, August 21: 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Saturday, August 22:  9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Sunday, ARugust 23: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

One right lane closed for bridge beam installation on I-66 bridges over Route 29 Centreville.

 

Route 29 Centreville North and South at I-66

Starting 9 p.m. Friday, August 21, through 5 a.m. Monday, August 24

Route 29 will reduced to a single travel lane in each direction under I-66 to allow for overhead bridge beam installation.  Two-way traffic will run on Route 29 North.  Drivers using ramps to and from I-66 will not be allowed to make left turns during this time.   During overnight hours each night, both northbound and southbound traffic will be flagged in a single lane for both directions.

 

ROUTE 28 (SULLY ROAD) / CENTREVILLE

I-66 East and West between Route 29 Centreville and Stringfellow Road

Route 28 North and South between Route 29 and Braddock Road

Monday, August 17, through Friday, August 21: 11 a.m. to noon

Temporary 15-minute stoppages of traffic for blasting operations.

 

Route 28 North and South between E.C. Lawrence Park Athletic Fields and Route 29

Monday, August 17, and Tuesday August 18: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Route 28 North and South will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction for bridge beam placement at Braddock Road/Walney Road. Two-way traffic will run on the northbound lanes of Route 28.

 

Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North

Monday, August 17, and Tuesday August 18: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The ramp will be closed for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.

 

Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West 

Monday, August 17, and Tuesday August 18: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 South, follow signs to I-66 West and make a left at the traffic signal to access I-66 West.

 

Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East 

Monday, August 17, and Tuesday August 18: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The ramp and two left turn lanes from Route 28 South to I-66 East will be closed. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Braddock Road between Newton Patent Drive and Route 28

Starting 10 p.m. Friday, August 21, through Monday, August 24 at 5 a.m.

Braddock Road will be closed between Newton Patent Drive and Route 28. Traffic will be directed to Westfields Boulevard to access Braddock Road and/or Route 28.

 

Route 28 North between Walney Road and Westfields Boulevard

Wednesday, August 18, and Thursday, August 19 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Two lanes closed for crews to implement a traffic shift.

 

Route 28 North at I-66

The right lane of Route 28 North at I-66 is closed to provide extended merge lane for the ramp from I-66 East to northbound Route 28

Between 8 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. nightly, two lanes will be closed for crews to implement a traffic shift and paving. Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, one lane will be closed.

 

Ramp from Route 28 North and South to I-66 East

Sunday, August 16, through Thursday, August 20: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22: 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

One lane of two on the ramp from Route 28 North and South to I-66 East will be closed for material hauling. Drivers should expect periodic brief stoppages for trucks to enter roadway.

Monument Drive North at I-66

The right hand lane on northbound Monument Drive over I-66 will be converted to a right turn-only lane onto the Monument Drive ramp to I-66.

I-66 East will be reduced to one travel lane for overhead bridge work at Gallows Road and east of the I-495 Interchange. Drivers should expect slowdowns and periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. nightly.

Monday, August 17, through Thursday, August 20: 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane for overhead bridge work east of the I-495 Interchange. Drivers should expect slowdowns and periodic 30 minute stoppages between 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. nightly.

Gallows Road over I-66 will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction for bridge beam installation for new Gallows Road bridge. Two-way traffic will run on Gallows Road South.   From noon Saturday, August 22, through 10 a.m. Sunday morning, August 23, and from 9 p.m. from Sunday night, August 23, through 6 a.m. Monday morning, August 24, traffic will be flagged in a single lane for both directions

 

I-66 East from Cedar Lane to Gallows Road

Saturday, August 22: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Sunday, August 23: 9 p.m. to 4: 30 a.m.

Three left lanes closed for bridge beam installation at Gallows Road.  Drivers should expect slowdowns and periodic 30 minute stoppages between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. (3:30 a.m. Monday morning)

 

I-495 North from Route 29/Lee Highway to I-66

Two lanes closed for bridge construction.
